About
bulentyusuf.com is a personal weblog of thoughts, commentary and blather about movies, books, current affairs and anything that pops into my head on a given day. I’m a wordsmith by trade, with electronic publishing both a speciality and a personal preference. I’ve often described myself as a man’s man, ladies man and man about town, but in reality I’m deeply boring and pedestrian.
A bit more about me…
Q: In school, what was your favorite subject and why?
A: When I was a kid my favourite subject was English, closely followed by History. I was (and am) a hyperactive little pest with an overactive imagination, so these were the classes that engaged me the most. I was pretty useless at everything else because of a short attention span, but I’ve since learned to lower my sugar intake and become a productive member of society.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do when not blogging?
A: One of my favourite pastimes is to read The Daily Mail from cover to cover and become indignant with rage, then tear it to pieces and stamp on the tattered remains. It’s a tonic for the soul.
I also like to read, cycle, cook, go to the movies and hear live music. Having a conversation is also good, but I’d rather do it in person than over the phone. I hate telephones.
Q: What is your favorite colour?
A: Purple. It makes a good colour for t-shirts.
Q: If there was one person, alive or dead, that you could spend a day with, who would it be? Why?
A: It changes all the time, but currently I’d like to meet Alfred Hitchcock. I’d like to be on the set of a film like Rear Window or North by Northwest and see his twisted mind at work.
Q: What is your favorite book?
A: Again, it changes all the time. Yesterday it was Neuromancer by William Gibson. Today it’s Ghostwritten by David Mitchell. Tomorrow it’ll be something else. A cookbook, most probably.
Q: What are your favorite sites?
A: For general news and comment I read The Guardian and the BBC. For reference I use Wikipedia. On top of that I read numerous blogs for idle rumour and speculation, stuff like io9, The Beat and Kotaku.
Q: Quick, say the first word that comes to your head.
A: Norwegian Wood. That’s two words, but nobody is going to read this far down the page.
Q: Anything else about yourself?
A: I’m short, fat and hairy. I wear glasses and I’m prone to excessive flatulence. Marriage proposals are welcome.
